The Muslim Burial Ground at Horsell Common was founded in 1917 as a last resting place for allied Muslim soldiers who died of their wounds in this country during WW1 and was later enlarged during WW2.
Following regrettable vandalism in 1968 there were many attempts to raise funds to renovate and protect this important monument. Finally in 2012 funding was offered principally by English Heritage with the balance from Woking B C, and formally opened by HRH the Earl of Wessex on 12th November 2015.
Pomery Natural Stone worked with Terra Firma Architects to provide this beautiful Indian sandstone, S255 Forest Brown, for the paving and copings.
